Compensatory Award Definition
Question - What Does The Term Compensatory Award Mean?
Answer - If you win compensation for unfair dismissal at a Tribunal, your award will be made up of a basic award and
a compensatory award. The maximum an employee can be awarded is £51,700 under the Compensatory Award. This award is intended to
compensate the employee for financial loss relating to the dismissal, including expenses and loss of benefits. The Tribunal may make
deductions from the compensatory award for a range of reasons, including if they feel you contributed in some way to the dismissal.
